2023 Programme
Our 2023 Artists in Schools Residency Programme artists were Celeen Mahé and Sarah Ellen Lundy. The residencies took place in two Sligo schools followed by an exhibition which was made up of a collection of artwork created by the artists during the Primary Colours Art Education Residency 2023.
The artist in schools' residency was based over 8 weeks: one session of two hours 30 min sessions per week.
The two schools involved were
Marcy National School, 5th Class, 15 Students. Theme: Environment/seasons
Achonry National school Tubbercurry, 5th & 6th Class 19 Students. Theme Environment/ sustainable/recyclable materials
Timeframe for the Primary Colours Residencies in schools
Feb – March: selection of residency schools and artists
April – June: residency timeframe, artists working with school groups
June – September: Artists working on artwork for two -person exhibition @ the Hyde Bridge Gallery
Oct – Gallery Tours and workshops @ the Hyde Bridge Gallery based on residency artists work
During our gallery tours and workshop: 311 primary school children, from 3rd – 6th class, from 12 Sligo Primary Schools took part.
Artists involved were: Celeen Mahe and Sarah Eilen Lundy (residency, exhibition artists), assist artist Viv Byrne, documentation artist Zenda Williams.
