2015 Projects

During April and May nine national schools from Sligo Town and County took part in a number of outreach school workshops. These workshops were themed around the Lily Lolly Craftfest, a festival which takes its name from the Yeats Sisters Susan and Elizabeth, who were affectionately known as Lily & Lolly.

The children’s work created during these workshops was exhibited in the top floor gallery space of the Hyde Bridge Gallery, which is housed in the Yeats Building, Sligo Town. The exhibition ran in association with the Lily Lolly Craftfest and was part of the Year of Yeats 2015

2013 Projects

As part of the Yeats Day 2013 celebrations Primary Colours Sligo ran an Art Competition for National School Children to celebrate the work of Yeats.

Our Schools Workshop Programme theme for 2013 workshop in schools programme was W.B. Yeats Poetry, and how his work has inspired many Sligo based artists. For our galley tour we linked with the Model and the Norah McGuinness Exhibition on view at The Model, Sligo in May 2013.

‘Travelling Box Schools Project’ ran in a number of National Schools in County Sligo in 2012. Project artists’ designed workshops around the theme of the Travelling Box exhibition, which was a selection of commissioned mixed media artworks.

During 2011

The inspiration for the 2011 project workshops came directly from viewing the exhibition ‘What Do You See’ a selection of abstract art works from the Sligo Art Gallery permanent collection. We linked in with Sligo Education Centre for the hosting and viewing of this project exhibition.
